Defence Ministry Initiative: Women's Self Defense Program
We invite media representatives to attend the meeting announcing this multi-month program with the participation of the Minister of National Defence Antoni Macierewicz and invited guests on Wednesday, 9 November, at 8:45 a.m. at the Sports Hall in the Warsaw Citadel (ul. Dymińska 13).
The entrance to the Warsaw Citadel will be open between 7:30–8:30 a.m. Entry for TV transmission vehicles is possible up until 8:30 a.m. Media coverage is only available for accredited individuals.
Accreditation applications (containing: name, surname, name of editor, father's name, social security number (PESEL), press card number, the make and registration number of transmission vehicles and contact phone number) will be accepted by the Operational Center of the Ministry of National Defence, up until 8 November 2016 (Tuesday), till 2:30 p.m. The e-mail accreditation address is: firstname.lastname@example.org

The Self-defense for women program consists of 8 free, several hours’ long practical training sessions for adult women who want to learn and develop their skills and behavior in various situations that threaten their life or health, especially arising from physical threats against them.
The program will be underway beginning on 19 November 19, 2016 until 3 June 2017 in 30 military facilities in Poland in the following cities: Białystok, Bielsko-Biała, Brzeg, Bydgoszcz, Gdynia, Giżycko, Gliwice, Hrubieszów, Kielce, Koszalin, Kraków, Lidzbark Warmiński, Łask, Międzyrzecz, Opole, Poznań, Radom, Rzeszów, Słupsk, Sulechów, Szczecin, Świętoszów, Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Toruń, Ustka, Warsaw, Wrocław, Zakopane, Zamość and Zgierz.
During the first lessons, soldiers and the best military instructors in the Polish Army will present the course takers all of the techniques, which will be carried out during the entire training cycle, including: the adoption of a defensive posture in case of external aggression, releasing from holds, defensive postures from kicking attempts, being choked, being hit, attacked with dangerous tools or with the participation of several attackers. All classes will be preceded by warm-up exercises in preparation before each training session, thereby also improving overall physical conditioning. At the beginning of the first training class, each participant of the self-defense for women program will receive a promotional starter kit.
The following activities will take place on: 3 December 2016, 14 January 2017, 4 February 2017, 4 March 2017, 1 April 2017, 6 May 6, 2017 and 3 June 2017. Due to a limited number of places, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the rules for participation in these activities and reserve space for the course directly with instructors before the start of classes. The aim of the project is to popularize the women's self defense training program of the combat forces of the Republic of Poland in a civilian environment, the familiarization of women with the way of implementation of activities in close-body contact, learning basic self-defense techniques, and the perfecting and mastering of holds, grips and immobilization techniques in the scope of self-defense.
